09 Mar Hands on History
Year 2 had a very exciting trip to Gunnersbury Park Museum. We attended an excellent workshop about the life of Florence Nightingale who we have been learning about in our Spring Term history unit. Children were really excited to learn more about Florence Nightingale’s childhood, the inspirational work she did in the Crimean war and the impact she had on modern nursing. As you can see from the photographs, children were active learners and engaged in the workshop by dressing up as nurses, injured soldiers, photographers and Florence’s family! As well as the workshop we enjoyed exploring Gunnersbury Park Museum, playing with toys from the past and dressing up in clothes from different eras.
“My favourite part of the trip was Florence Nightingale’s workshop because we got to dress up as people that Florence Nightingale helped.” Thomas, 2CA
