18 Dec Celebrating Advent
The word Advent comes from the Latin word “adventur’ which means arrival. It is the time we wait for the arrival of Christmas when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. At Christ the Saviour we have many ways to celebrate this exciting time of year and learn more about the Christmas story.
All pupils received a special booklet at the beginning of Advent with lots of stories and fun activities to complete with their families at home to enjoy preparing for Christmas together. If you don’t know the answer to the questions below, ask someone from CtS to find them in their Advent booklets!
How many Sundays are there in Advent?
What message did the angel give to Joseph in a dream?
Describe where Jesus was born
What special gifts did the Wise Men bring to Jesus?
Our Carol Services helped our Broadway Site pupils prepare for Christmas and learn more about the Christmas story through dramatic readings led by our worship leaders and beautiful singing led by our Broadway choirs. A copy of our Carol Service can be found here: Advent Carols
Congratulations to all Broadway pupils who helped to lead these candle-lit Carol Services – our servers, stewards, Broadway choirs and worship leaders. It was a real treat to welcome our friends from Khalsa Primary School in Norwood Green to our Year 5 and Year 6 Carol Service. They particularly enjoyed the carols and loved watching the choir. As always, it was wonderful to share the traditions and practices between our two schools.
Our Nursery children had lots of fun during their sing-a-long in Nursery with their parents. Everyone was really impressed with the confidence of our youngest pupils speaking in front of a group, singing together and using some percussion instruments with rhythm. Well done Nursery!
