Supporting Macmillan

The school has a deep commitment to fundraising for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity. We started supporting this charity after losing a member of staff, Denise Steadman to cancer 10 years ago whilst in service. Since that time many parents, staff and pupils within out school community have been affected by cancer diagnoses and we are passionate in supporting this charity and the good work they do.

This year our day for raising awareness and support for Macmillan is Friday 25th September. We will be inviting children to come to school in their own t-shirts on Friday and children are encouraged to donate a coin as they come through the gates – or parents may prefer to donate online here.

We will be hosting cake sales on both sites at pick up time and would welcome your cake donations on the gates in the morning. We have raised over £20,000 over recent years for Macmillan so do give generously if you can!

Friendship Art Competition
To celebrate the friendship and support that Macmillan offers to families affected by cancer we invite all pupils to enter our art competition and make a piece of Art on the theme of Friendship.

The art can show:
– a special friend or group of friends or what you do together
– what makes a good friend
– a bible story about friendship

Entries can be any shape or size and can be painted, drawings, pottery or collage. Put your name and class on it and hand it to your class teacher or front office by Friday 25th. Entries can be done individually or with a friend or group of friends. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each year group and displays created across both sites with examples shared in our celebration worship.
