House Captain Elections

Our Year 6 candidates for house captain began their campaigns last Friday with red and yellow house elections taking place at both the Broadway and the Grove site; the electoral process then concluded today with blue and green house taking their turns.

It was fantastic to see democracy in action as each house gathered in the hall to listen to the speeches which the candidates had prepared. It was wonderful to see the ideas and creativity that had gone into the candidate’s presentations and the accompanying campaign posters. Our Year 6 pupils spoke with confidence and eloquence, and the electorate listened carefully and patiently to all the speeches before casting their votes.

All pupils, from Year 1 to Year 6, cast their votes electronically, supported by our Year 6 ‘electoral officers’ who made sure that the ballot was kept secret and that the vote was a free and fair one. We are proud of all our Year 6 pupils who put themselves forward as candidates – 73 Year 6 pupils stood for election across the four houses, which is a tremendous achievement!
