Super Science Homework

Our Year 6 children have made an incredible start to their science homework this year! Their first piece of homework was all about the human heart, linking closely to our current learning about the circulatory system.

The children were challenged to create an information poster showcasing what they have learnt about the heart. We have been so impressed by the scientific knowledge, creativity and effort that have gone into their work. The children have explained how the heart works, how it pumps blood around the body and the important role of oxygen, while using scientific vocabulary such as arteries, veins, oxygenated and deoxygenated. Alongside this there are beautifully illustrated and carefully labelled diagrams, and even 3D hearts with aortas popping right out of the posters! It has been wonderful to see children finding imaginative ways to bring their scientific learning to life.

Some of these brilliant pieces of homework are now proudly displayed on the Year 6 floor, showcasing the work of our young scientists. We have also been awarding Star Scientists to recognise children who have particularly impressed us with their scientific understanding, effort and presentation. It has been lovely to celebrate their achievements and enthusiasm for science.

What a great start to the year – we are already looking forward to seeing what our Year 6 scientists produce next!
