21 Oct Hockey Medals
Last Friday was a big day with 2 teams from Year 5/6 going off to a hockey tournament at St Augustine’s School. Despite some preparation with a practice session on Thursday there were a few nerves on show as we walked our way to the venue.
With gum shields and shinpads firmly in place, both teams settled quickly and worked well, showing off some fine skill and lovely passing, as well as responding well to fast-flowing rolling substitutions and team tactics.
The A team tournament was organised into 2 groups, culminating in semis and finals. CtS won their group, going through to play St Augustine’s in their semi-final. They were delighted to win, but unfortunately, despite battling hard, lost 1-0 to eventual winners, Holy Family, in the final.
The B Team played 6 matches in their round robin tournament and were thrilled to be awarded with Bronze medals.
Ms Jolliffe was proud of all the players – they played beautifully and were a credit to the school – and the teams were excited to arrive back with silver and bronze medals to show their friends.
