01 Oct Little Marks, Big Steps!
It has been a busy few weeks in Reception, and we have been doing lots of exploring, experimenting and mark making!
The children have been practising their early writing skills throughout our indoor and outdoor provision. We have seen lots of dots, lines, crosses, circles, zigzags and waves appearing in all sorts of places! Children have been using chalk, paintbrushes, pencils, sticks, water and lots of other resources to make their marks. Some children have been drawing pictures and patterns, while others have been making maps, signs and marks as part of their imaginative play.
It has been lovely to see the children becoming more confident with the different tools and enjoying making their own marks and ideas.
We have also started our phonics journey with Fred the Frog! 🐸 The children are learning their very first sounds and are beginning to practise hearing, saying and recognising them. We are already seeing the children excited to spot and use their new sounds as they play and make marks.
There is lots more to come as our Reception children continue to explore, make marks and take their first steps into reading and writing!
