Out of this world Science!

Year 5 have made a fantastic start to the year with their first piece of science homework. Building on what they’ve learnt at school about the Earth, Sun and Moon, as well as the planets in our Solar System, each child created a unique representation of the Sun and the eight planets. Some children made well constructed 3D models, others made colourful posters and some made
something completely different. At home, they researched fascinating facts about each planet, including what they look like, their size compared to others, and how far they orbit from the Sun.

Some of the children shared the following:

Nino, 5AJ – “I made a poster about the planets, which included facts about them that I found out on the internet.”

Leo, 5AJ – “I made a poster for display and I wrote loads of facts in my homework book. I learnt about distances from the sun and the order of the planets and that Jupiter has a giant crater in it.”

Tawanna, 5AJ – “I learnt about planets’ names, sizes and orbits and put it all in my science homework poster.”

Liberty 5AJ – “I decided to do mine on Google Slides because I felt it was easier. I used the websites Mr Jones shared to find out about the Solar System. I learnt that Uranus is spinning on its side and the length of the orbits for each of the planets are very different.”
