12 Mar Reception Writing Workshops
We recently held a Reception Writing Workshop and it was wonderful to welcome parents/cares into the classrooms to see how writing is taught and explored in both our indoor and outdoor learning environments. The session gave families the opportunity to experience first-hand the different ways children developtheir early writing skills through play, exploration and creative activities.
Throughout the workshop, parents/carers were able to join their children in a range of writing activities, from mark-making and storytelling indoors to engaging writing opportunities in the outdoor learning space. These activities demonstrated how writing can be encouraged naturally through everyday experiences and purposeful play.
We loved seeing how engaged the adults were with their children. It was lovely to watch families working together, sharing ideas and celebrating the children’s efforts as they practised their developing writing skills.
We hope that parents and cares found the workshop useful and that it provided a valuable insight into how writing is taught in Reception. Our aim was to share simple and practical ways that families can support their child’s writing practice at home, helping to build confidence, creativity and enjoyment in writing.
Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us and made the workshop such a positive and collaborative experience.
