06 Mar Year 1 Grow Cress in Science
In Science this term, the children in Year 1 have been learning about plants. They have been learning about the different parts of a plant and how not all the parts look the same.
The children have been investigating what plants need to grow. They have learnt that plants need soil, water, sunlight and space to grow. However, they also found out that cress can actually grow in cotton wool too! The children excitedly began growing their own cress seeds last week.
First we spoke about what the seeds look like, what the cotton wool acts as, where to put their pots to help the seeds to grow and what we need to give them each day. Every morning the children arrive at school eagerly waiting to see if their cress seeds had grown and lucky enough with the children caring for them they did!
