06 Nov Year 1 Learn Programming
Year 1 have had a fantastic time exploring Bee-Bots in their first set of computing lessons in Year 1. Bee-Bots are friendly, bee-shaped floor robots which we used to teach the basics of computing without needing a screen. The children enjoyed pressing a sequence of buttons to ‘program’ the bee and then pressed ‘Go’ to watch it travel across the floor or table.
Through these lessons, Children learnt key vocabulary such as ‘algorithm’ and ‘programming’. They learnt that finding and fixing a mistake in a program is called ‘debugging’. As they tried to programmw the Beebots so they could reach different destinations many of them learnt to correct in their own coding and challenged their friends to help them! Well done Year 1!
