22 Oct Year 2 visit for Remembrance
As part of our History unit on Remembrance Sunday,
to remember those who served and lost their lives during World War One and World War Two.
Our young historians demonstrated wonderful respect throughout the visit. Together, the children laid a handcrafted poppy wreath at the base of the memorial, said a prayer, and observed a two-minute silence.
While exploring the inscribed names on the monument, the children located the name of Alice Harman.
Alice was an Ealing resident who worked at a local munitions factory during World War I, helping to make equipment for soldiers on the front lines. Tragically, she lost her life in an accident while at work in 1916. She is the only woman named on the Ealing War Memorial, making her a particularly special part of our borough’s history.
We are incredibly proud of how thoughtfully Year 2 represented our school during this trip.
