Teaching in the nursery is organised through a range of approaches and provides a balance of child initiated and adult-led activities:
Our Nursery is an enabling environment that encourages the children to explore all different areas of learning throughout the day. There are always a variety of rich and engaging activities prepared for the children, both inside and outside providing a safe and nurturing setting.
Children are always able to access activities linked to expressive arts and design in our creative area. For example; painting, drawing, drama, music and design and technologyOur topic tables and trays offer children access to activities linked to understanding the world. For example; sand, water, and scientific investigation. We also have a designated construction area for children to explore building larger structures with careful adult support and guidance.
Our mathematics area provides children with a mixture of activities covering topics such as number, calculating, problem solving and shape, space and measure.
Our stage area encourages children to develop their language for communication and literacy. This is supported by our small world and reading corner to further encourage reading, writing and imaginative role-play.Our spacious outdoor area allows children to explore learning on a larger scale. All seven areas of learning are reflected in this space with a water wall for scientific exploration, a role play house for further imaginative play, a climbing frame, obstacle courses, balance bikes and more all available for children to develop their gross motor skills.
