
25 Jul Summer Geography Competition
Once again we are looking forward to the annual National Geographic Young Geographer of the Year Competition. As usual, all pupils going into KS2 are eligible to enter a poster on the theme this year: ‘Understanding Islands‘.
There are over 670,000 islands on the planet – including the one we live on! The criteria for the competitions is to create a poster exploring at least one island, exploring its location and unique geography across people, places and environments.
National Geographic are looking for eye-catching, innovative, informative and accurate submissions which addresses this year’s theme and which meets the criteria below:
- A well-written and informative piece that demonstrates geographical knowledge and uses accurate geographical terminology.
- Excellent attention to spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Original and independently produced
- Entries must not be 3D or have tabs or hidden information.
- If produced electronically, please use a minimum font size of point 10.
IMPORTANT: Any images used must be copyright free – we recommend using sites such as Unsplash and Pixabay. All images must be credited.
We look forward to creating a display in the atrium in September of all our entries. The best 10 entries will be selected to represent the school in the National Competition. Please submit all entries to school by Friday September 5th. For more detail please see below:
