23 Sep Democracy in Action
We are incredibly proud of all the Year 6 pupils who have stood in our House Captain elections over the past two days. Nearly 80 pupils from across the four houses put themselves forward; they all wrote speeches, prepared posters and then delivered their presentations to all the children in their house in Years 1 – 6.
As usual the candidates came up with lots of ideas to make themselves stand out from the crowd, with suggestions of creative changes to the lunch menu, propsoals for new clubs, and lots of ideas around introducing school pets! Many of the candidates emphasised their loyalty, kindness, team work and listening skills as well as their passion for winning the house treat each term.
We appointed Year 6 electoral officers to help oversee the voting process, which was done electronically by each house at the end of all the speeches. It was wonderful to see everyone taking their democratic responsibility so seriously.
A huge well done to everyone who took part – we look forward to announcing the results later this week!
