06 Jul Cultural Heritage Day
Our school was bursting with excitement, as we celebrated our first Whole School Cultural Heritage Day!
Children and staff embraced the Cultural Heritage Day by coming to school dressed in traditional clothing representing their cultural heritage or wearing the colours of their national flag. It was a fantastic sight to see our school filled with such a vibrant display of cultures from around the world.
One of the highlights of the day was a special Show and Tell session from members of staff. Children enjoyed hearing fascinating stories and learning about the diverse backgrounds of staff from across the school, including teaching assistants, kitchen staff and site staff.
Throughout the day, children enjoyed a fantastic range of activities celebrating cultures from around the world. They tried Japanese origami, created Kente paper weaving inspired by Ghana, made traditional Nigerian headwear, crafted Taiwanese lanterns, explored performance poetry from different countries, decorated paper plates with traditional dishes and so much more!
The day was filled with creativity, curiosity and meaningful conversations as children learned about different traditions, customs and cultures. It was wonderful to see everyone celebrating what makes us unique while recognising the values and experiences we all share.
