09 Mar Year 5 Interhouse Hockey
We were absolutely delighted that our Year 5 Inter House hockey finals were able to take place this week, following the completion of the group stages last week. All 120 pupils played for their houses in the group stages and the best house teams went through to compete against one another in the semis and the final. It was a great opportunity for all of Year 5 to experience the excitement of a tournament and to learn more about how the ’round robin’ stages of a competition works, with points and goal difference all contributing to establishing the winners of each group.
After a fiercely competitive final, Green House (St. John the Baptist) became the winners of the boys’ tournament with a 1-0 win against Red House (Sts. Peter and Paul). In the girls’ competition Blue House (Our Lady) secured a 3-0 victory over Yellow House (St.Mary Magdalene) to become our girls house hockey champions!
It was fantastic for all of Year 5 to be able to watch the exciting finals and to have the opportunity to cheer for their houses. Do enjoy the gallery below which shows some pieces of the action!
