18 Jun Being Safe in our Local Community
On Tuesday 16th June, our Years 5 and 6 pupils took part in a vital and eye-opening assembly led by officers from our local police team. As our oldest pupils prepare for their upcoming transition to secondary school, the session focused on understanding crime, making positive choices, and staying safe in the wider community.
The officer spoke openly with the children about the realities of secondary school life, highlighting the increased independence they will soon experience. They discussed how to recognise risky situations, the consequences of peer pressure, and how certain behaviours can cross the line into illegal activity.
Joseph shared, “I think that the assembly was really good because it reminded everyone what not to do in secondary and it warned us about getting into trouble. I feel more prepared going into secondary school now!”
Isabella added, “I liked that the police officer talked about being safe on the streets when we’re walking home from school, that was really helpful. I found some of the crimes we learned about surprising because young high school kids did them – they also faced quite serious consequences for their actions.”
We are incredibly proud of how sensibly our Years 5 and 6 handled these serious topics. A huge thank you to our local police officer, Danny, for volunteering his time to help prepare our pupils for a safe, confident and successful future!
