08 Mar Reading about the Windrush
Year 6 have been really enjoying this half term’s history unit on the Windrush and were excited to see the 50 new books which have just arrived to enable them to do wider reading around the topic. The Windrush unit looks at the arrival of the Empire Windrush at London docks in 1948 and considers how much of a turning point the ship’s arrival was in the history of Britain. The unit explores the long history of Black Britons, which dates back to the Roman invasion, and looks at the richness the Windrush generation have brought to British life and culture.
If you and your family would like to learn more about this important part of our history curriculum then do sign up for the free online presentation ‘An Introduction to Black British History’ which is being offered to all Ealing families this Thursday 11th March from 4- 5pm by the ‘Ealing No Learner Left Behind’ project.
