15 Dec Super Science in Year 6
This term Year 6 have been looking at the subject of ‘Light’ researching the scientist Isaac Newton’s Theory of Colour and recreating his experiment by shining a torch into a prism and observing the light splitting into a spectrum.
“So because the light gets bent in the prism, it comes out split into 7 colours.”
“It’s like when the light hits raindrops and you get a rainbow .”
An especially fun lesson involved making colour wheels – card discs suspended on string filled with 6 colours. Inspired by Newton’s work, the children built colour wheels and spun them furiously while watching the colours blur and merge, into a single white tone.
