09 Jan Caring for the Community
This year, Year 6 are involved with ‘Community Senior Letters’, the non-profit, community project that matches schools to care homes so that pupils can write letters to elderly residents to lift spirits and provide a warm social connection. Every 2 months, the care home CtS has been twinned with will receive letters, artwork and poetry from a Year 6 class. This time it was the turn of 6AK to be creative. The pupils really enjoyed thinking about what they would draw or write and what might help someone feel special.
“I wanted to maybe put a smile on a resident’s face so I sent some Christmas jokes and a drawing of a sunset.”
“This is so important to me because sometimes people can feel a bit lonely and I want to help.”
“My poem and letter is all about nature because it’s my hobby and hopefully it will make the residents happy too.”
Thank you Year 6 for being part of such a wonderful cross generation project.
