17 Dec Celebrating the Advent Season
This week our KS2 Advent Carol Services took place in the church on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. It was a delight to see the church filled with pupils and their families as we celebrated the season of Advent through music and readings.
Our worship leaders did a wonderful job of telling the Christmas story through dramatised bibles readings; the themes the readings introduced were then taken up in the anthems sung by the school choirs and the congregational carols.
From the prophet Isaiah we heard that a saviour, the Prince of peace was promised; from the gospel writers we heard that he then came, was born to Mary and Joseph and that news of Jesus’ birth was gladly shared by the angels with the shepherds. And finally we heard the story of the star leading the Wise Men to Jesus, to present their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrhh.
During the service each year group performed a carol that they had been practising and it was a joy to hear all 120 voices of each year group joined together in one song.
Thank you to everyone who came and who helped make the celebrations so special!
