02 Mar Visiting Local Places of Worship
Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed their local visit to the West London Islamic centre and mosque. The pupils were given the opportunity to use the washrooms, enter the prayer room and learn lots of interesting information about the Five Pillars of Islam.
The children were able to ask questions and find out about life as a Muslim. They were able to make wonderful comparisons between the life of a Muslim and the life of a Christian.
The children admired the features of a mosque and were able to name a lot of the features they could see. They were surprised to find out that at this particular mosque there was a gym and a small grocery store selling items such as dates and zamzam water from Saudi Arabia! Thank you so much to those at the mosque for opening up your place of worship to us – we really enjoyed learning about a different place of worship in our community.
