13 Jun Year 3 World Environment Day
To celebrate World Environment Day, our Year 3 pupils focused on how pollution affects plant growth. The children had the opportunity to investigate how different types of water impacted how well plants grow.
Each class planted cress seeds, watering one pot with water and one with salt water to observe the differences in growth over the week. This helped them understand why clean water is so important for our environment. The children also wrote hypotheses on what they thought would happen and they then had the opportunity to review these against their observations.
“I predicted the cress with salt water would not grow and would die. I was correct. World Environment day is important because we need to take care of the world,” Kemi, 3JK
“We need to help the environment so that our world can be peaceful and humans and wildlife can live together healthily,” Karan, 3JK
“I predicted the plant watered by salt water would not grow. World Environment day is important because we get to discuss how we can protect God’s world. I created extra posters on stopping Ocean pollution as I want to help,” Iggy, 3AK
