19 Oct Rainforest Adventures!
Year 4 students embarked on an exciting rainforest adventure at Kew Gardens, immersing themselves in the sights, scents and wonders of a tropical rainforest during their memorable visit. The children explored the sights and smells of tropical plants in one of Kew’s magnificent glasshouses, discovering a variety of ways in which the rainforest plays an important part in our everyday lives. They also discussed the lives of the people who live in these environments and why it is so important to protect them, building upon the learning they have been doing in their South American geography unit.
This experience also linked closely to Year 4 English work on ‘The Great Kapok Tree’, helping to bring the learning from the wonderful book to life. Fortunately, we were blessed with the weather, allowing us to explore even more of the gardens, including the Hive, the Children’s Garden and The Princess of Wales Conservatory. All had a great time!
