15 Jun Yr 6 at the London Youth Games
On Monday our Year 6 basketball team travelled to Stratford to represent Ealing Borough in the London Youth Games basketball finals. The CtS team had already won two basketball competitions to gain the privilige of representing the borough at the London wide tournament, which comprised the best 24 teams from around London.
The first challenge for the CtS team was to navigate through the group stage, which they did convincingly by winning 4 out of the 5 games and topping their group.
The tension increased as they moved through to the quarter finals, but an excellent performance was rewarded with a 6-2 win.
In the semi-finals, despite very good opposition, CtS managed to win an extremely tight game 9-8 with some great shooting followed by excellent defensive play. The CtS team were through to the final of the London Youth Games!
In the final we played against an outstanding team from East Sheen Primary, who were representing Richmond Borough, and they outplayed CtS to win the tournament, with CtS taking the silver medals for Ealing. It was a fantastic end to a wonderful day of high level, competitive basketball.
Huge congratulations to the 6 players involved, who were a credit to themselves and the school. We are so proud of you!
